According to a report recently published in The Economist, the seafood market is growing fast in the U.S.--by about 13% annually in recent years. In fact, large retailers like Costco didn’t even stock fresh fish a decade ago. Now they sell more than 15,000 tons of salmon filets per year, with shrimp not too far behind. |

The idea is not to bother consumers so much with cans; therefore, the company furthered an easy and safe to open product, with a 3 year shelf life and with just the minimum amount of oil of water containing the processed tuna fish; therefore, it does not require to be drained.
Under the Marina Azul brand, this pouch packing attempts to compete with a wide variety of brands, which is a complex challenge when considering the wide market of tuna consumers, that turn tuna fish into the seventh most sold food product in Mexico and that turns Mexico into the fourth world consumer of processed tuna fish. |

There is a deeply rooted belief in labor and business culture that “the best thing is to be self-employed”. As soon as we hear that someone left his job and has become independent, we imagine that someone, tossing away the tyrannical yolk of an oppressing and exploiting employer and finally being able to enjoy the fruits of his efforts.
But, it does not take long for that initial dream to turn into a nightmare. The now owner becomes the center of the universe for his business and far from leading a comfortable life, he now has to work extended hours. Moreover, he feels no one supports him and that the barrier between employer and employee seems to be growing day by day. In time, he himself becomes the tyrannical oppressor from which he escaped to establish his own business. |

In 1994, when the first Mr. Fish opened its doors in Monterrey, quality, speed and flavor joined to form the perfect combination and, at the same time, to redefine the perception of fast foods in northern Mexico. Miguel Pérez and his wife Sabina García, are the creators of this innovative project. The idea of offering the same as a seafood restaurant but in the fast food court in a mall was very well received by consumers in Monterrey. Previously, if someone wanted a good fish fillet or shrimp and was out shopping in a mall, there was nothing to do about his craving, but everything changed with the arrival of Mr. Fish. |

Canned tuna victory
The top news in the tuna business is the complete victory of the US tuna industry in a California court. A judge accepted all the arguments put forward by the tuna industry as to why California’s Proposition 65 should not supersede federal law, and as a result ruled that California has no right to require mercury warning
labels on cans of tuna. The outcome means that efforts to force retailers and restaurants to post these warnings may fail as well.
